Volunteer with us at NVCE
Volunteers are an integral part of NVCE! Without our great volunteers, we would be unable to maintain the high standards and organization that NVCE is known for. Thank you for taking the time to consider helping us with our sale! NVCE offers several volunteer opportunities.
Volunteers are asked to provide NVCE with a minimum of six hours of their time, in three-hour shifts. Please do not request to work less than six hours. As a Volunteer, you will be assisting us in the following areas: help set up and take down racks/shelving, check-in items, organize and help customers during the sale, check-out customers, and other jobs as needed.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A CONSIGNOR TO BE A VOLUNTEER!
To sign up as a Volunteer, please REGISTER and you will have the option to schedule your preferred shift online beginning February 12th. You will not have to register as a consignor if you do not want to. We want to fill the volunteer shifts as listed in our online system (myconsignmentmanager) through our website so please do not request to fill partial slots.
Don't forget that men can sign up to help. We have several volunteers each year who are husbands, single fathers and grandfathers who volunteer with us.
There are benefits of Volunteering at NVCE!
- NVCE volunteers receive $5.25 per hour in credit towards purchases at the sale.
- Make new friends. We have so few opportunities to interact with other moms and dads outside our normal social circle. The NVCE sale is a fun opportunity to get to know other parents as we volunteer. Our volunteers come from every walk of life and are quite interesting.
- Volunteers get to shop before consignors and the public.
Volunteers shop Wednesday, March 24th based on the number of hours volunteered or scheduled to volunteer. If you volunteer 18+ hours, you may shop starting at 9:30 am*; 12+ hour volunteers shop starting at 10:30am; and if you volunteer 6+ hours, you may shop starting at 11:30am.
*Note: Volunteers wishing to shop at the 9:30am shopping time must complete at least six of their total hours on Wednesday March 24th, Thursday March 25th, or Saturday March 27th which are hard to fill time slots.Your job duties will depend on the number of volunteers and where your help is needed. You may choose to volunteer 3, 6, 12 or 18 or more hours. These shifts can fall on the same day or different days.
Please arrive a few minutes before your shift begins in order sign in and get settled. We have lots of shifts available. Tip: Take turns with a friendÉ you can watch her kids while she volunteers and she can watch your kids while you volunteer. Then you can come shopping together!
Volunteers shop on Wednesday before the public and consignor sales, depending on number of hours volunteered. If you find it necessary to call and cancel or reschedule your shift, please do so 24 hours in advance of your shift. Volunteers who do not call to cancel will not be allowed to register as a volunteer for the next season's sale. Call Donna at 703-727-0538 if you are canceling after the sale has begun.
Volunteers are NOT permitted to bring children to their scheduled shift unless approved in advance by Donna. Thank you for your understanding.
Please thoughtfully consider the commitment before signing up.
If you do not have internet access and wish to volunteer the sale, contact Donna at 703-727-0538 or otherwise at dmunoz@envsc.org.
