TAGGING

NVCE only accepts quality, clean and gently-used items. Check clothing for stains, holes, missing buttons/snaps, broken zippers, fading etc. Toys MUST be clean, complete, working and should include batteries (if applicable) in order to sell better. If you are questioning whether or not we will accept an item, we probably wonÕt accept it. NVCE does not accept responsibility for breakage, damage or theft of any items consigned, however we will do our best to care for your items.

You will need:

  • White (donating) or pastel (pick-up) colored, non-textured card stock in 60, 65 or 67 lb. for printing your tags. No regular or construction paper tags will be accepted. Do not use gray, cream or light yellow paper for your tags!!!! These tags could be confused for white. Use white if you are planning to donate your unsold items and pastel if you are picking up unsold items.
  • A tagging gun for attaching your tags to your clothing and soft items. NVCE will no longer sell tagging supplies, however, we do have a few remaining from our previous sale. Call us at 703-727-0538 on Friday March 20th (when we will unpack them0 and we can let you know if we have any left. Tagging supplies can be purchased at Major retailers, like Michaels, Staples, Office Depot - just make sure you get long tagging threads and not quilting threads. You can also get supplies on-line at https://www.fixtures-displays.com/tagging_supplies.php and several other discount on-line retailers.
  • Plastic zip or slide-lock bags (To hold accessories/parts)
  • Packing tape to secure parts or bags of accessories and masking or painterÕs tape to secure tags to books, etc.
  • Tagging loops or zip ties to attach tags to shoes, toys and equipment.
  • Hangers for all your clothing items.

How to use our online tagging system

NVCE uses an online barcode tagging system through our partner site, My Consignment Manager. This may sound a little intimidating, but it's really VERY EASY. To register for the upcoming sale, please click this link Register Me! and follow the instructions. You will set up an account with My Consignment Manager and then register for the NVCE 2010 SPRING sale.

If you are interested in taking advantage of our worker benefits, you also may schedule your shift here. We do not have drop-off appointments; you are welcome to come anytime during our drop-off hours.

Creating your tags

Once you have registered through our partner site My Consignment Manager for our 2010 NVCE SPRING sale, you may begin entering your information to create tags for each of your items.

    FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

  1. Register and then Log In with your user name & password. Note: These are case sensitive
  2. Click on "Enter Items"
  3. Begin entering your first item: Your Consignor ID is also your Seller #
  4. Under "Consignment," select the Spring 2010 NVCE sale
  5. From the Size drop down menu select the size of your item if applicable. Only maternity items should show S, M, L, or XL.
  6. Next use the Description space to identify and sell your item! Is it a name brand? If so, list the name brand in this space. If the item is New or Like New, list that information there too. If an item is marked one size but wears like another, point that out. For some items, it may be beneficial to point out the itemÕs original or retail price. This may convince the buyer of the great deal they will be getting.
  7. Next you may choose to Discount - By checking here, you are indicating that you want to sell your item for 50% off during the Half-price sale Saturday, September 28. Items that are not marked with discount will be sold at your full price.
  8. Now you may choose to Donate - All items with white tags will be donated whether the tags say donate or not. NVCE uses the white tag color to determine donation status. All items with colored tags must be picked up during between 5 pm and 8 pm on Saturday, March 27th , or Sunday, March 28th between 2 pm and 4 pm. After 4 pm, leftover colored tagged items will become the property of NVCE.
  9. Price for your item - Minimum price must be $1 and increase in $1 increments. Bundle two or more items together if individually they cannot be priced for $1 or more. See Pricing Page for more ideas about pricing your items.
  10. Next, choose a Category for your item from the drop down menu.
  11. Finally, select Pricing Page "Add Item". Now your tag has been saved to your account and you may continue this process for the remainder of your items.

This entire process will go very quickly. Once you have pressed "Add Item," it has been added to your inventory. You can enter some or all of your items at once. That is up to you. By selecting "Manage Inventory," you can view and/or make changes to your tags. You must also transfer any previously unsold items you plan to bring from a prior NVCE sale or other sale that uses my consignment manager from the "Manage Inventory" page if you plan to bring them to this sale and not retag them; just remember that if you are changing the price, you must remove and destroy the old tag and print a new one.

You may also select Print Tags to print out the required barcoded tag to attach to your item. You can choose to either print your tags all at once or you can do a little bit at a time. It's up to you.

Do not make handwritten changes or corrections to your tags. If you make a mistake or change your mind about a price, you must make a new tag.

Prepping and tagging

Separate your clothing by gender and size so that you have one pile per gender, per size (for example one pile 2T girls, another 4T boys, another books etc.). This really helps to make your online data entry go much faster.

If you put an identifier tape noting your consignor # and item # on your items in addition to the tag and provide us with an inventory, we will be able to make a replacement tag and sell your item if the tag comes off your item. Otherwise tagless items will not be sold.

Tags on books and other non-clothing items should be secured using masking or painterÕs tape on the left and right side of the ticket only. Do not tape along the top and bottom of the tag.

No Scotch tape or packing tape is allowed on the tags as these products will either tear the tag or the item when the tag is removed at check out.

Do not place tags inside of any bagged item. We need to be able to remove the tags so you can be credited with your sales.

Only use one tag per item regardless of number of pieces or bags in the set.

Do not put any tape over the barcode.

In accordance with new safety rules, our charities will not accept any items that a child can sit or stand in or on, including cribs, car seats, strollers, bathtubs, etc. Additionally, they also will not accept diaper pails or excessively large toys. So those items will need to be picked up if they are not sold, regardless of whether or not they have white [donate] tags.
