PRICING
As an NVCE consignor you are in control of your pricing!
Here are some tips and guidelines we hope you find useful.
As a general rule you will want to price items at about 1/4 to 1/3 of their original retail price. If your item is a name-brand or boutique-brand such as OshKosh, Gymboree, Hanna Andersson or other higher end, you can price closer to 1/3 . Clothing from Target or Wal-Mart should be priced on the lower end. For example, if a Children’s Place t-shirt can be purchased on sale for $11.99, you can reasonably price it around $3.00 for good condition, $4.00 for excellent condition, and closer to ½ price if brand new and the tags are still on. Also keep in mind that we have a large amount of infant clothing, so to be competitive it must not only be cute, but also cheap.
A great question to ask yourself “what would I pay for this?”
Larger indoor/outdoor toys like kitchens and playhouses (Little Tykes type items) would be an exception to the ¼ 1/3 rule. These types of toys are sought after, especially if they are in excellent condition and you can expect to get as much as 1/3-1/2 of original retail price.
If you are unsure of the value of certain items and want to do some research, spend some time on the Internet and "shop" for those items. eBay is a great place to comparison shop for the price of used items.
A note on car seats: If you consign a car seat, please call the Dept. of Transportation at 1-800-424-9393 to ensure that it has not been recalled. If you are looking to sell a car seat it must be less than 4 years old and must have never been in an accident.
